Huliau Hui Laulima
Huliau Hui Laulima is an after-school program focusing on natural resource managment on Maui from the mountain to the sea. Hui Laulima is a great way for students to learn about Maui’s natural resources, potential jobs in conservation, and to meet students from other schools. Students may also be able to use the program to fulfill community service requirements at their school.
The program will take place on Wednesday’s after school in August and September, plus one Saturday session. The program will consist of two after school sessions at the Hawaiian Canoe Club in Kahului and three off-site visits to learn about the natural resources of the mountain (uka), farm lands/plains (kula), and ocean (kai).
The program runs for 4 Wednesdays from August 29th until September 19th, and includes one all-day Saturday session in Waikamoi on September 1st. It is open to students in grades 7-12 from all schools.
The program is FREE including all transportation, snacks, and a Tshirt! MEO's youth transportation program provides free transportation to the canoe club from most public schools.
