St. John's Kula Festival
St. John's Kula Festival is Sept 22,2012 from 9:00am to 3:00pm on the grounds of the church in cool & lovely Keokea (across from the county park) at 8992 Kula Highway. This is a local favorite event each year with a bit of something for everyone. They will have live entertainment all day with the highlight being Napua Makua and Halau Hula Na Lei Kaumaka O Uka. There will ono food like Portuguese Bean Soup, waffles with fresh Kula strawberries, Maui Cattle Company Hamburgers and chow fun and more, famous Kula produce, home baked goods, a wide variety of plants and cut flowers, children's games, including free face painting!, silent auction, crafters and gift baskets. The proceeds from this event are shared with different charities each year. This year’s beneficiaries are Friends of the Children's Justice Center, which helps protect abused or neglected children and the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program. St. John's is an Episcopal Church which has been serving the Keokea area for 112 years and has a long history of being a community center and resource, including a food pantry for those in need and a totally free “Fellowship” dinner on the last Friday of each month. This is the 30th annual festival and there will be a prize for the best 80’s costume and some other fun. They welcome one and all to the festival. For more information call 878-1485.
