Lahaina Jodo Mission to Host Free Outdoor Community Appreciation Concert
This year marks 100 years since the founding of Lahaina Jodo Mission. As appreciation to the community for its support in the past 100 years, they will host a free outdoor Community Appreciation Concert on the temple grounds on Saturday, October 20 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m by Paix2 (pronounced Pepe), a popular young Japanese female duo. Japanese folk melodies and contemporary songs including Inochi no Riyu (The Reason for Life) and Lahaina Jodo Mission’s own Bon Dance song Daibutsu Ondo (Great Buddha Dance) will be performed. Paix2 will visit voluntarily as an expression of their gratitude to the people of Hawaii for their tremendous support during Japan’s triple disaster of the major earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster. Lahaina Jodo Mission invites everyone to enjoy this free concert (please feel free to bring your blankets and law chairs to enjoy the concert). For more information, call 661-4304.
