Since 1996, celebrated Los Angeles hip-hop culture-mashers, Ozomatli have gone from being hometown heroes to being named U.S. Cultural Ambassadors. Their wide array of musical styles—a notorious urban-Latino collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East L.A. rhythm & blues, Jamaican reggae and Indian raga—has long followed a key mantra: taking you around the world by taking you around L.A.
