Clubhouse follows the model of psychosocial rehabilitation founded by Fountain House in NY over 55 years ago. It is a comprehensive program which provides services to adults with serious mental illness. There are currently over 300 clubhouse programs in more than 29 countries around the world with total membership of 55,000 and growing.
The volunteered work performed assists the members in increasing their personal/social skills and confidence, and allows them to resume productive lives in the community. Its foundation is based upon reclaiing hope and respect, which mental illness often confiscates.
