2017 Ridge to Reef Rendezvous

Join your friends and neighbors at the 8th annual Ridge to Reef Rendezvous at Kahekili Beach Park in Kāʻanapali on Saturday, October 28th from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. This free event promises fun for all ages, beginning with a catch and release keiki fishing tournament (**note check in and start time is at 8 am) with great prizes. Tour our first-ever “haunted reef,” just in time for Halloween! Find yourself engaged in conversation with local conservation groups under the Ridge to Reef hui tent where volunteer information, hands-on interactive displays, demonstrations, and giveaways make it fun to learn how to mālama Maui. This event also features music by Captain Billie Bones, fabulous prizes for entering our scavenger hunt, and fun, fun, fun! Lunch will be provided first-come, first-serve through the generous support of the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, CJ’s Deli & Diner, and Maui Grill Kaanapali.

Special events have also been planned the week leading up to the event. Join us the night before (Friday, October 27th) at Whalers Village for a free showing of Chasing Coral on the new 20 foot screen, sponsored by Oceanology's Whale Center of Hawaii, starting at 6 pm, followed by a discussion and question and answer panel hosted by local coral reef researchers. For adults, Kohola Brewery will host a Science Night on Wednesday, October 25th at 6:30 pm featuring a presentation and talk story about Maui’s water quality.

Don't miss the annual celebration of mauka to makai conservation and stewardship in West Maui!

For more information, check out the West Maui Kumuwai Facebook page (www.facebook.com/WestMauiKumuwai) or call (808) 283-1631.
