Picnic for Poki Hawaiian Music Concert
Roselani Place and Ola Na Mele Productions invite you to a Picnic for Poki Concert at 11:00 AM at the Historic Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku Town, 103 South High Street on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Our guest entertainer with live Hawaiian Music will be Ahumanu.
Ahumanu is Maui's most popular female Hawaiian trio. They have plans to release their highly anticipated 4th album in February of 2019. The group released their EP entitled Songbird, in summer of 2017 which introduced the islands to the newest version of this all-female band. The band has undergone a few transformations since its conception in 2006 and this power team now includes Liz Morales (senior founding member) on guitar, ukulele player Marjalehua Apisaloma, and Kekai Robinson on bass. All women take turns on lead vocals but it is their special blending of voices which is causing much of the excitement when the group takes the stage.
Together since 2016, this Ahumanu has already performed in Japan, the South Pacific (Tahiti and Easter Island), West Coast US and Hawaii nei. Quickly becoming a crowd favorite, Ahumanu has enjoyed playing for many of Maui's beloved hula halau and can be seen accompanying many of them at hula competitions as well as ho'ike and concerts abounding.
This free event is open to the public. There will be delicious fresh baked cookies and coffee from the Roselani Place kitchen. Bring your lunch, a lawn chair, and most importantly, bring a friend.
Picnic for Poki is held every third Thursday on the month to continue bringing the spirit of aloha and Hawaiian music to the Maui community in honor of the late Allen "Braddah Poki" Pokipala. Braddah Poki was dedicated to sharing Hawaiian music throughout various venues in Hawaii. For more information, call 871-7720.
