8th Annual Blessing of the Animals
The 8th Annual Blessing of the Animals will be held at Keawala’i Congregational Church, on Saturday, December 8, 2018 beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the grounds of the church. Churches celebrate the blessing of animals in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. The Feast Day of St. Francis is usually held on the first Sunday of October. Our annual celebration is held in December. In addition to readings and prayers, a blessing is offered for the animals.
Arrangements for the day will take into account the needs of the various animals that may include dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, rabbits and others. Dogs must be leashed at all times and cats and other animals must be safely contained.
We encourage bringing donations of any type for the MHS. Participants are welcome to take photos with their pets with the Christmas trees inside the sanctuary. Santa also attends the service and will be happy to participate in a photo.
Keawala’i is a Hawaiian heritage church and open to all. Our address is 5300 Mākena Rd. in Mākena. For questions, please call us at 808-879-5557.
