Ka’analike Talk: The Road to Pearl Harbor

Using maps and documents from World War II as his storyboard, map historian Bryant Neal will discuss events leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor from the perspective of the U.S. and Japan. Bryant will also discuss the significant role that Maui played in the war. After the talk, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase reprints of the maps and documents discussed throughout the lecture.

ABOUT: Map Historian Bryant Neal
Bryant is a reputable map historian best known for making the history of Hawaii accessible to a popular audience through talks, exhibits, and the marketing of accurate and affordable reprints. Bryant is the co-owner of the Story of Hawaii Museum, a display space in Haiku that showcases frequently changing exhibits and a thriving retail store.
Bryant’s lecture topics include the daring exploits of the master Polynesian navigators, the intrepid voyages of the early European explorers, the formation and overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy, the perilous Annexation period, the dark days of Pearl Harbor and World War II, the heady celebration of U.S. Statehood, and the luxurious Golden Era of the Matson Cruise Line.
