Picnic for Poki Hawaiian Music Concert

Roselani Place and Ola Na Mele Productions invite you to a Picnic for Poki Concert at 11:00 AM at the Historic Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku Town, 103 South High Street on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Our featured guest with live Hawaiian Entertainment will be Tarvin Makia and Pono Murray.

Tarvin Makia is an internationally known musician, both for his own beautiful sound as well as his participation in HAPA. Tarvin was born and raised in Hau`ula on the North Shore of O`ahu. His introduction to music started at the tender age of 5 playing the ukulele. Along with the influence of Braddah IZ and Gabby Pahinui, he was also inspired by the music of the Hui Ohana, Sunday Manoa, Gabe Kila, the Nanakuli Sons, Olomana, C&K and Kalapana, just to name a few.

Pono Murray is a Kumu Hula, composer, producer, performer who has been blessed to be able to present a sweet mix of mele in an project called Leipono. Pono has written many songs over the past 15 years for hula competitions, luau jingles, and as gifts for family and dear love ones.  Many different styles have influenced the selection on his CD Leipono. Jazz, Swing, Contemporary as well as traditional Hawaiian. Come enjoy the smooth timeless Hawaiian style of Pono Murray.

Bring your lunch with you and enjoy coffee and fresh baked cookies from Roselani Place.  Relax under the monkey pod tree for an hour or so at this free event, which is open to the public.  Bring a friend!

Picnic for Poki is held every third Thursday on the month to continue bringing the spirit of aloha and Hawaiian music to the Maui community in honor of the late Allen "Braddah Poki" Pokipala.  Braddah Poki was dedicated to sharing Hawaiian music throughout various venues in Hawaii.
