*** Our Lady of the Rosary *** October 7
October 7 is the Catholic Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, formerly known as Our Lady of Victory.
The feast commemorates the Battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571, when the Holy League defeated the Ottoman fleet in a historic naval battle. Pope St. Pius V attributed the victory over the Muslims to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the prayers of Christians who recited the Rosary.
The feast remains a celebration of faith, prayer, and devotion to Mary, with a special emphasis on praying for peace.
