The James Campbell Park was donated to Lahaina for the children of Lahaina as a memorial to Abigail's first husband, James Campbell, on April 21, 1900. Both James and Abigail were strong royalists. Abigail worked actively collecting signatures on a petition opposing the US annexation of Hawaii, and supporting the reinstatement of Queen Liliuokalani. They were major benefactors of the Hawaiian people, contributing where they saw people in need and supporting causes that sought to improve the status of native Hawaiians. The Lahaina Restoration Foundation manages the Campbell Park and creates events for children to enjoy.
