Join us for this 1.5 hour workshop where students will learn techniques in creating lei kui. Kui is the Hawaiian term for needle, which we will use to string a variety of locally grown and foraged material into a beautiful lei. In this hands-on session, you’ll delve into the intricacies of flower preparation, learn the kui (needle & string) style of lei-making, and explore pattern organization to create a stunning lei kui.
Our expert instructor will guide you through each step: from selecting the perfect blooms to designing and assembling your lei kui. You’ll gain essential skills, including tools required, material preparation, and storing or drying your lei.
After crafting their lei kui, guests will enjoy a delicious dinner next door at the Hali’imaile General Store.
